Swap one component for another on the Page builder canvas, plus more improvements

The latest release of the Page builder includes the following new feature and improvements:

  • A new button in the context toolbar lets you swap an existing component for another directly in the Page builder canvas.

  • Duplicating components now also duplicates the component’s nested components at the same time.

  • The right-hand configuration panel now shows the workflow state of the content item assigned to the selected component.

  • The Help panel is now also available from the top navigation toolbar in the Page builder.

  • If the right-hand panel is collapsed when a new selection is made on the canvas, a purple icon button now appears close to the selected item to provide a clear visual cue for opening the collapsed panel.

  • The Page builder now respects the validation rules configured for fields.

This release also includes the following solved issues:

  • After you change the workflow state of a page, the popup now shows the correctly incremented version number.

  • In some scenarios, components might be unintentionally removed from the page, typically when the layout field did not define a placeholder for the component, and the placeholder was instead specified in the component’s definition item. This issue has been fixed, ensuring that only components with valid placeholders are affected by deletion actions.

  • Pages now render correctly in editing mode, regardless of the number of site definitions, language configurations, or hostname configurations.

  • Adding a second site definition with a different default language no longer causes the editing mode to display connection or hostname errors.

  • Local datasource items can now be created on pages that originate from a page branch.
